This collection is composed primarily of correspondence, as well as budget records, photographs, press clippings, acquisition records, and departmental reports. The collection documents the activities of Director of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, Giles W. Giles W. Mead (1928-2003), ichthyologist, served as Director of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum from 1970-1978 and served during the opening of the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits in 1977.
